With over twenty years of experience writing, recording, performing, and producing KLAE is a widely diverse musician specializing in drums and percussion. He began developing his skills by watching and listening to the greats and air drumming along. This defined the work ethic that he would take further into his career allowing him to play in varying situations ranging from rudimental, concert, musical theatre, pop, electronic, country, and hard rock. Having toured across North America and Europe, KLAE has continually defying expectation every step of the way.

KLAE’s interest in drumming began at an early age where he was caught skipping school at the ripe age of eight years old to spend time with the local high-school marching band. A few years later KLAE was able to sign up for some drum lessons at a local music shop beginning his instruction. Due to cost he was forced to decide between BMX bike racing, drum lessons, and joining the high-school marching band. The decision was made to join marching band in the drum line and extrapolate the lessons from rudimental drumming to all other outlets.

After high school KLAE began spending countless hours in the recording studio working with local producers, bands, and writers developing the work ethic necessary to consistently perform and record professionally leading to many sold out performances locally and even a local spot at Sundance Film Festival’s Clear Channel night.

KLAE went on to study at the University of Utah expanding his musical journey beyond that of the drum set and Rock and Pop music. While studying at the U of U KLAE dove head first into every opportunity leading to world premiers, regional premiers, awards and performances across the U.S. A few of these accomplishments include: 2009 Presidential Inauguration, Grand Prize – U of U Chamber Music Competition, Principle of multiple ensembles, Steering Committee – Utah Wind Symphony, Multiple placements at the PAS Utah Day of Percussion, Founder – Utah Museum of Fine Arts Chamber Music Series.

After college KLAE went on a study abroad and spent five weeks immersed in the culture of Siena, Italy cementing his desire to travel and experience different cultures as much as possible. After Italy this translated into travelling to Indianapolis, IN for an internship at the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Rhythm Discovery Center. While there, KLAE learned to provide interactive tours of hands-on percussion to 80-100 kids at a time as well as facilitate drum circles for people of all ages and abilities. The timing of being in Indiana at this time lead to going on tour with Lindsey Stirling during the Shatter Me tour throughout the U.S. and Europe. Touring with Lindsey allowed him the opportunities to work on some of the biggest stages and festivals throughout North America and Europe in various capacities including Stage Managing the Brave Enough Tour.

While touring as a technician is fantastic and fulfilling in many ways, it is not performing on stage in front of people. This lead KLAE to leave touring as a technician and continue pursuing musical opportunities. Not long after, KLAE was asked to join Perish Lane on their short U.S. tour, perform in Mexico with Morgan Whitney, and performing with Sleep Signals opening for Atreyu’s In Our Wake Tour alongside Memphis Mayfire and Ice Nine Kills in 2018.

Along the way, KLAE has continued developing his own unique style of composing and performing leading to his current release which is a combination of electronic production and live drums always challenging himself to become a better musician.
